Abstract
Solitary bone cysts also are called simple or unicameral bone cysts. They are completely benign and intramedullary solitary fluid-filled lesion lined by thin fibrous tissue and a single row of mesothelial-like cells. They represent about 3% of primary bone tumors, male predominate is 2.5 to 1 with usually seen in childhood to adolescence. They are important clinically due to pathologic fracture and recurrence. The simple bone cysts occur in the proximal humerus and femur more than 80%. They are less commom in patients over age 17 years and, in this age group, are more often located in the pelvis and os calcis. But the acetabulum is a very rare location for simple bone cyst. The diagnosis is difficult and clinical signs are nonspecific. We have experienced a case of simple bone cyst in acetabulum. It was treated by curettage through intra-articular approach. We have reported here the case in which simple bone cyst developed in acetabulum with brief review of literature.
